So, the question presents itself, who have been the weakest hitters in the Majors in the Post-Strike Era? Here's a list of players who have had 3,000 plate appearances while posting an isoSLG of .080 or lower.
| Player | PA | isoSLG | OPS+ |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rey Sanchez | 4248 | .063 | 67 |
| Rey Ordonez | 3407 | .064 | 59 |
| Luis Castillo | 6422 | .065 | 94 |
| Juan Pierre | 5417 | .072 | 84 |
| Tom Goodwin | 4209 | .073 | 73 |
| Cesar Izturis | 3117 | .075 | 68 |
| David Eckstein | 4421 | .077 | 89 |
| Jose Vizcaino | 4320 | .079 | 76 |
As you can see, out of the players listed, only Pierre and Goodwin weren't middle infielders. Also of interest is the only former teammates on that list are Castillo and Pierre, who were the table setters for the Marlins team that won the World Series in 2003.
Things could definitely prove interesting in Atlanta if the Braves are forced to plug three players into their lineup -- Anderson, Blanco and Yunel Escobar -- who are all primarily singles hitters.
